The Microbicide Research and Development Portfolio (MRDP) is an interactive web-based information management and tracking system of microbicides in development. The MRDP supports NIH’s comprehensive microbicide research program that includes screening, preclinical in vitro and in vivo testing and the clinical evaluation of antimicrobial compounds with spermicidal and non-spermicidal activity. The MRDP database is also a compendium of historical compounds considered for their anti-HIV and/or microbicidal activity.

The MRDP database primarily contains microbicide compound data provided by both private and NIH-funded research publications. A web-based system allows electronic upload of laboratory assay data into standardized fields. Alternately, preclinical data is manually entered through interactive data entry screens.

The MRDP database serves as a tool to examine data on compounds at various stages of development. The goals of the MRDP are to track research data from many researchers around the world, perform analytic and evaluative assessments of the research data, fill research gaps, and foster collaborations among investigators in the microbicide field.

We encourage you to browse the MRDP website for the latest compound reports, publications and abstracts, news, resource links, and conferences.
